The Love Ways want to teach you about a Wild Life

Brooklyn-based The Love Ways have dropped a new track by the name of “Wild Life”.

The title doesn’t miss its mark, the song is full of energy with guitars that are distorted just enough to pack a punch while still having a bit of clean sparkle underneath the crunch.

Take a listen to the song now and let us know what you think!

These kids love cold weather – keep them warm!

Marking two posts in a row sharing bands we’ve posted before, Cold Weather Kids makes their RMP return with “Keep Me Warm”, one of the songs off of their brand new EP, Quarantunes.

We previously wrote about the band’s song “Holding On“, a catchy pop punk track. For “Keep Me Warm”, the band dug deeper into their influences, blending sounds from bands like Pierce the Veil, The Venetia Fair, and Sum 41.

The song’s driving beat in the choruses propels things forward, while the lead guitar is the highlight of the verses. If you’re a fan of any of the bands mentioned, this is definitely a track to check out!

We told you you’d be hearing from Last Letters again

In August we wrote about Last Letters, a pop punk solo act from New York. We told you you’d be hearing more from Last Letters and we hate to say we told you so… But we told you so.

While “You Swore” was reminiscent of Angels and Airwaves, Charlie Iwuc, the man behind the band has gone in a distinct Blink-182 direction for his first song of 2021.

“I Love You, Amy Smart” has all the catchy riffs and harmonies you’d expect from a song that Blink dropped around the turn of the century, and is sure to be appealing to anyone who is feeling nostalgic for one of the best eras pop punk has experienced. Take a listen now!

Get Drenched by Torrential Rain if you’re Left Outside

It’s no secret that we like modern metalcore here at RMP – after all, Warped Tour never died in our hearts.

When German 4 piece Torrential Rain sent a new track to be shared, it was an instant “yes!”

Not only have we shared their music in the past (read our writeup about “Home Alone”), we also really enjoyed the new track “Left Outside” and decided that this well-crafted track needed to get a couple extra listens.

Take a listen now, and enjoy the video created by Christian Brauner featuring lighting by Michael Dorner.

A true multinational band: The Pauline Principle

We’ve all been affected by the pandemic in one way or another. Practically everything we hear is bad news – after all there isn’t much good that comes from a global pandemic.

But there’s at least one good thing that we can thank the pandemic for: The Pauline Principle.

The band have just released their debut single, “Broken and Prone” and a lyric video to go with it. The song is extremely well produced, and showcases how artists from vastly different areas of the globe can collaborate to make great music.

With this being the band’s first single, I have to say I hope there are many more to come!

The floor is… Fiber?

Ok, enough with the three-year-old-meme puns, the floor in Batman Returns is not lava – but according to Batman, it’s high in fiber.

The Losing Score is a UK-based band, with influences from pop punk and alt rock – to my outside perspective, it seems like the members may be fans of Weezer as well as PUP, but that’s just a gut feeling.

The band unabashedly wrote their new song “Eat Floor, High Fibre” about the 1992 movie Batman Returns. The catchy chorus with more laid back verses are a classic combo that’s tried and true, but still great to hear.

Christmas is a few weeks out, but this is probably the closest you’ll see RMP getting to holiday music – take a listen now!

ESTHR lets loose about the pandemic and lockdowns

UK-based elctro rock act ESTHR have been regularly releasing singles for about four years, and their latest effort “Violence” is stellar in every way.

Not only do the music and lyrics convey the anger of what’s been happing in the world this year, the production and mix highlight that energy quite nicely. It probably helped that the band had to write the song remotely, likely fueling the frustration being poured into the song.

In fact, judging by the sound you’d think you’re listening to a major label act, it’s that good – yet ESTHR is an independent band. It shows that they’ve clearly got their priorities straight and know that to have a shot in music, they have to put out the best product possible, and they’ve certainly done that!

EJ Mann swings big with “It’s Automatic”

This isn’t British rocker EJ Mann’s first rodeo: he’s been making music for quite some time now, playing in bands such as The Minority and The Call – not to be confused with the 80s US band of the same name.

It’s often difficult to choose which songs to write about, because there’s so much great music out there these days. “It’s Automatic” made it easy though, grabbing listeners’ attention with a simple, yet classic, drum intro that rolls right into the start of the song.

Newer artists may have made the mistake of jumping into the song right away, or perhaps having a much longer intro. EJ didn’t do that – he found the right spot in between to have a short but effective intro.

Moving on from there, the lead guitar pulls you in even further. As things build through the verse, the arrangement does an amazing job of highlighting the vocals, but keeping the guitars just interesting enough that they’re also a highlight of the song.

Definitely keep EJ on your radar, I’m sure we’ll be hearing more great tracks soon!
