Sailing uncharted waters with Calling All Captains’ “Unlike Me”

From the first note, I was instantly drawn to the gritty vocal tone and raw aggression that permeates the song. It’s undeniably catchy, but what sets it apart is the consistent edge that adds an extra layer of anticipation throughout. The drums and bass create a hefty groove, keeping the track punchy and driving, while the guitars provide a comforting warmth that wraps around me. What truly impressed me was the impeccable craftsmanship in the song’s structure, as the palm muted verses seamlessly build anticipation, leading to explosive choruses. If you are a fan of the catchiness you may find in a pop-punk track, but like a little extra anger in your morning coffee, get up in this track!

Against The Sun take a stand with “JAD”

Socal metalcore act Against The Sun have released “JAD”, a scathing critique of gun violence in the United States. Filled with lyrics like “It shouldn’t be this easy to fill these caskets”, the song doesn’t pull any punches.

While many songs are politically inspired, it’s rare that I see a regional artist pull it off well – and Against The Sun have absolutely nailed it with “JAD”. From the heavy beginning to the jazzy outro, Against The Sun have poured their thoughts and emotions into this one. Give it a listen!

Against The Sun have asked that, if you have the means, please donate to Everytown to help end gun violence.

We’ve been turning up the volume “Lately” with Kala’s new track

“Lately” is the brainchild of two Canadian friends and talented artists, Kala and Todd Barriage. What started as an instrumental for Todd’s band, Theatria, quickly transformed into a pop-punk banger with Kala’s fresh spin on lyrics and melodies.

The moment I hit play, the punchy drums, fast riffs, and captivating vocal effects had me hooked. What really stood out to me were the vocal melodies and the raw and relatable story behind the lyrics. One of my favorite sections was the breakdown when Kala sings “finally got closure” leading into a big guitar progression and drawn out chorus. If you love a well produced pop-punk track that you can yell at the top of your lungs, give “Lately” a look!

Heaven Unknown brings on the void of “Nothingmore.”

Heaven Unknown’s new track, “Nothingmore.” explores all the angles of post-hardcore, emo, and metal styles in a dynamic progression.

I was especially drawn to this track due to its free-flowing nature in combination with powerful guitars and vocals. The guitars are big-sounding, with a warm tone, providing a solid resting place for clean and growl vocals. The punchy growl vocals and drums have an awesome contrast with the long sustained clean vocals as well. Sticking around until the breakdown, I loved the spacious effects on vocals and lead guitar to transition. Embrace “The Good Hurt”

“The Good Hurt” by San Diego-based band Nights Like Thieves is a captivating track that showcases the band’s unique sound and energy. The song is an emotional and introspective journey that explores the pain of heartbreak and the struggle to move on.

The track opens with a simple, yet powerful drum fill. The lead vocalist’s voice is raw and emotive, carrying the weight of the lyrics with conviction. The chorus is anthemic and catchy, with a memorable melody that sticks in your head long after the song is over.

Lyrically, “The Good Hurt” is a seems to be about recognizing that a relationship is failing. The lines “you stick around but you never believed in this” and “it’s black and cold, just like your heart” capture the feeling of emptiness and loneliness that can come with mourning a relationship.

The lead vocalist’s clean vocals are packed with warmth and blend perfectly with the beefy guitars and drums.
