We’d hate to be “Without You” for this Low Like You track!

Pop punk band from Cleveland, Ohio, Low Like You, turn the conversation to you with their new slamming track “Without You.”

What drew me to this track is the addition of heavier influences shown with chugging guitars and yells in the latter half of the song. The vocals, melodies, and energy of the track is all pop punk, but these little touches of metal give it an effective contrast. As typical pop punk tracks go, the drums are pounding and driving forward in a fast-paced fashion with lots of fills. Vocals in this song are up front with a lifting chorus-like effect, but also blend enough to let the rest of the instruments shine. If you like pop punk style music and appreciate a shoutout to the heavier side, give this one a listen!

We are digging the “Echoes” surrounding us, thanks to Secondhand Saints!

Metalcore band, Secondhand Saints, from Belgium, just released the diverse and heavy production, “Echoes.”

This has all the contrasts that make an effective metal track with a strong feature of synth melodies. As the song progresses, there are repeating examples of strong call and response growls to the clean vocals. The processing on clean vocals pairs well with the included synths, having a widening effect that grows increasingly spacey as the chorus kicks in. We always love hearing those big guitar chugs and angry breakdowns, and this song delivers there as well! If you like full growling vocals, powerful clean vocals, synths, and chugging guitars, you’ll get a kick out of this one.

Catch “Echoes” by Secondhand Saints in their new music video here! Also be sure to give them a follow for upcoming releases!

Trying Times are certainly not fading away, with their monster song “Nothing I Am”

US metalcore band, Trying Times, are at it again, bringing us another dynamic metal banger to try out, “Nothing I Am.”

The track has a classic metal intro equipped with a weighty punch into grindy guitars, bass, and strong riffing. As with the last Trying Times track we posted on, “Tidal Wave,” this one continues to impress with dynamic structure, melody, and aggression. The clean vocals hit space in the mix that cater to wide powerful lines that transfer well into the airy yells that we all love. Growl vocals throughout the song also don’t disappoint. With effective spacing and intensity, they offer the contrast needed to pull the story together. I don’t know what Trying Times have going on with their bass tone in this, but it absolutely destroys with that killer bass clang and depth.

Pick up those headphones or crank those speakers because “Nothing I Am,” by Trying Times is worth feeling! Give them a follow as well for future updates!

Common Choir and Five AM give us the “Shivers” with this new track

Minneapolis metalcore band Common Choir, teams up with Sam Nelson of Five AM to bring us a heavy Ed Sheeran cover “Shivers!”

If you like the original Ed Sheeran song “Shivers,” but you just need a little more grinding guitar, spitting growls, and a full soaring chorus, you’re going to like this one! The growls in this track are extra powerful, full of energy, and have excellent clarity and grit. Sam Nelson makes an impressive showing as well, with his adaptation of the “Shivers” hook melody. The melodic elements really contrast the aggression of the rest of the track. Common Choir is always slaying it on the fast paced, grindy tracks, and this one delivers! I recommend listening with the original in an A/B fashion to grasp the full added heft that Common Choir put into this.

The track uses your typical heavy beatdown of guitars in the metalcore genre, with contrasting sections using electronic style production. Metalcore band from Massachusetts, Wind Walkers, give us some pop elements with the crunch that we all love in “Dead Talk!”

The track kicks it off with some great excitement building, synth sounds, and a super smooth clean vocal. The song amps up as the progression continues, bringing in those heavy guitars and drums. The melody line is quite catchy and brings a massive sounding sustained chorus line. “Forsaken,” but this time Everyone Loves a Villain!

Hard rock band, Everyone Loves a Villain, from Spokane Washington, drop an epic and aggressive track, “Forsaken.”

Not long ago we featured a track also titled “Forsaken,” and this one kills it as well! The guys in Everyone Loves a Villain knock this one out of the park with an all encompassing clean vocal, tight riffing, and bursts of aggression. The track has a nice contrast between massive guitars and lightly layered sections with creative electronic production techniques. The tone of the main vocal brings me back to the classic hard rock power of bands such as Disturbed. If you grew up on hard rock and metal, and can appreciate some new twists in production, don’t sleep on this one!

From the fiery depths of 11|34, we bring you “Story of a Kid”

Italian post-hardcore band 11|34 give us a heavy riffing track with their new release “Story of a Kid!”

We always like a strong start to a song and this one doesn’t disappoint with an ultra heavy riff playing in tandem with the punch of the kick drum. Layering and progression in this track are well done with a blazing fast guitar line contrasting the flow of the verse vocals on top of the mix. The song fills in immensely when the chorus line hits, bringing a wide vocal melody that anyone could get stuck in their head. With a devilish name, catchy melodies, and well defined guitar parts, we’re looking forward to seeing what 11|34 will be summoning in the future!

Lüdo brings the energy to an otherwise “Negative Space!”

Post-hardcore band Lüdo, from Norway, bring us the twists, turns, and punch of the hardcore style!

“Negative Space” does a great job hyping you up with energy. You can almost feel the crowd surfers thrashing around you on the driving chorus line! The structuring of the song creates a dynamic soundscape that constantly moves forward without stagnating. The guys in Lüdo show some songwriting prowess with alternate chorus endings and a compelling breakdown to keep it rocking. The drums and guitars hit a groove that always seems to be flying at one hundred miles per hour and I’m absolutely alright with it.
