Caleb Hyles, Judge & Jury, and Jonathan Young do not “Idolize” numbers!

Caleb Hyles teams up with Judge & Jury and Jonathan Young to deliver a depth-filled hard rock track “Idolize.”

Caleb started off making big waves in the realm of covering songs on YouTube, and we’re not disappointed with his original tracks either! The guitars have a fullness that really shines through while supporting Caleb’s powerful vocals. In addition to the power held in vocals, there is also a catchiness to the melody line that rings through. The width and heaviness present in this song is exceptional, without any abrasive or overly brutal sections. What really pulled me in was the grit on Caleb’s vocal line in high intensity sections. If you want a solid hard rock song that you can sing to, don’t sleep on this one!

Sakoya sell their souls to be “Painted in Gold”

Hard rock band Sakoya, drop a new powerful track “Painted in Gold.”

The grindy guitars and haunting bell sounds in this track provide a perfect space for the clean vocals. The push and pull of the verses to choruses leaves a wide range for dynamics and excitement ramping. Although there are not any growl vocals, the gritty distortion effects on verse melodies keep it spicey and aggressive. The weight and ambience of the riffing instrumental sections especially drew me in on this one. If you’re looking for a gritty and powerful hard rock song without constant growl vocals, this one is worth headbanging to!

Coldstate show a “Gruesome” display of metal and aggression

Metalcore band, Coldstate, give us their new high energy and aggressive track, “Gruesome.”

The barking growl vocals in this song are on point and pair excellently with pounding drums and hefty chugging guitars. Each of the chorus sections has an effective rising feel with lots of ambience for fans of wide stereo images. Aside from the more open-ended choruses, this track holds up an impressive wall of pummeling sound consistently throughout the structure. If you love diving into the pit for some meaty riffing and growl vocals, this may be the one for you!

Saving Vice bringing “I, Dysmorphia” to light on a superficial earth

Vermont metalcore band, Saving Vice, hit us with another banger: “I, Dysmorphia” only a month apart from our last posting!

Normally we try to space out coverage of specific bands so they aren’t too close together, but Saving Vice deserves a bit of a shoutout on this one. Starting off with their rap style and transitioning to aggressive and clean vocals has us reeling from the impact. The use of sub bass and close up rap vocals, transitioning to huge metalcore choruses makes for an impressive progression. The chorus is extra singable and the overall ebb and flow of the song leaves tons of room for expression. If you like the classic melodic nature of metalcore and can make some room for growls and rapping, give this one a look!

Father Deer Hands fly with clipped wings in a “Sunlight Dance!”

Australian post-hardcore band, Father Deer Hands, comes out with a track bursting with aggression, “Sunlight Dance.”

Right from the start this track blasts off, not wasting any time getting into it with driving guitars and spitting growls. The song’s energy and consistent aggression remind me of a style similar to Vanna, with its own twist. The guitar progression and riffing brings an uplifting feeling to the otherwise grungy growls. Every instrument has a place to shine and the longer song structure allows more development than a typical punk banger. If you’re a fan of hardcore, punk, and metal, this one is definitely worth moshing to!

This song will stick in your head like a Parasite

PNW metalcore act Alive In Barcelona are finally back with a follow up to their 2019 self-titled debut.

Make no mistake, though – even though their debut was released in 2019, the band have been together for over a decade, formerly touring under the name The Persevering Promise.

The band’s latest effort, “Parasite”, is the first in a new era for Alive In Barcelona. The track which was cowritten with Landon Tewers of The Plot In You flows flawlessly from moody, building verses to heavy and aggressive choruses. The breakdown is ready to punch you in the gut, before bringing it back through one more chorus to send the message home.

Take a listen below!

STARSET, Judge & Jury, and Breaking Benjamin are not “Waiting On The Sky To Change”

Starset, Judge & Jury, and Breaking Benjamin are kicking it up a notch with their new song “Waiting On The Sky To Change.”

Contrary to the suggestion, the three groups have decided not to wait around for the sky to change, and instead, blast us with this hard rock masterpiece. The grindy depths of guitar, ambient synths, and flowing vocals all come together for a unified power mix. I have been a longtime fan of Breaking Benjamin, and this collaboration is not a disappointment after a hiatus in releases. The way that each verse pulls you in with smooth bass and vocals creates an excellent transition into the wide catchiness of choruses. I especially enjoyed the aggressive portions in vocals and instrumentation, featuring yells and heavy riffs. If you have been waiting on some solid hard rock, or are a fan of Starset, Breaking Benjamin, or Judge & Jury, look no further!
