From the fiery depths of 11|34, we bring you “Story of a Kid”

Italian post-hardcore band 11|34 give us a heavy riffing track with their new release “Story of a Kid!”

We always like a strong start to a song and this one doesn’t disappoint with an ultra heavy riff playing in tandem with the punch of the kick drum. Layering and progression in this track are well done with a blazing fast guitar line contrasting the flow of the verse vocals on top of the mix. The song fills in immensely when the chorus line hits, bringing a wide vocal melody that anyone could get stuck in their head. With a devilish name, catchy melodies, and well defined guitar parts, we’re looking forward to seeing what 11|34 will be summoning in the future!

Give “Story of a Kid” a listen, and stayed tuned with 11|34 to catch their upcoming EP “Extinction” set to release on April 8th!

Lüdo brings the energy to an otherwise “Negative Space!”

Post-hardcore band Lüdo, from Norway, bring us the twists, turns, and punch of the hardcore style!

“Negative Space” does a great job hyping you up with energy. You can almost feel the crowd surfers thrashing around you on the driving chorus line! The structuring of the song creates a dynamic soundscape that constantly moves forward without stagnating. The guys in Lüdo show some songwriting prowess with alternate chorus endings and a compelling breakdown to keep it rocking. The drums and guitars hit a groove that always seems to be flying at one hundred miles per hour and I’m absolutely alright with it.

“Forsaken” are the ones on the Morning After Dark

German metalcore band, Morning After Dark, drop a classic fast paced heavy track “Forsaken!”

This one brings me back to All That Remains and As I Lay Dying, but with it’s own twist. The guitars are extra high-def for that crystal clear clarity of the riffs playing. Anyone that has been into the metalcore scene for a while can appreciate the technical heavy riffs, powerful growls, and wide clean vocals in this. Starting off with a blazing fast drum beat, this song doesn’t waste any time amping you up! I had a great time listening through this metal journey from fast, to slow, to strong sustained chorus lines.

Is Resistor the “Most Hated?” We think not!

The brutal boys Resistor, from Long Island, NY, are back! Bringing us another ultra sludgy beatdown, “Most Hated.”

As with their last track “Demon Time,” this one isn’t for the faint of heart! This track ramps up and explodes from the intro into a heavy drum and guitar section. Just listening to this, you can visualize some metalhead stomping around the venue floor looking to mosh. The record scratching sounds towards the beginning are also a creative introduction to sound design that really draws the ear! Slow, fast, grungy bass, this track has it all with influences from death metal, doom metal, and some industrial style sounds.

Give the deep demon club banger “Most Hated” a listen, and follow the guys in Resistor for future updates!

We hope Gareth Howatson is sticking around with this new track “BTTF”

UK artist Gareth Howatson hits us with a unique track, “BTTF,” showing influences from emo and pop-punk style music.

This high energy and uplifting track shows a nice mix between excitement and a touch of sadness. I have been jamming on this track for a few weeks since release and it always lifts the spirit! The vocal lines have a unique dark chorus tone to them that really makes the song pop out. The melody and lyrics are also quite catchy and relatable if you have ever been in a situation you know you just should not “stick around” in.

“Bound to Thrill,” the exhilarating new Letters Sent track!

Germany metalcore band, “Letters Sent,” bring the fast-paced elements of hardcore and metal to their new release “Bound to thrill!”

This track will get your blood pumping with its driving drums, progressing rhythms, and aggressive hardcore vocals. The growl vocals have that nice medium between clarity and aggression, hinting at ties to melodic death metal, but with a higher level of decipherability. With well executed pacing, and an in-your-face vibe, the song maintains energy while transitioning to elevated clean vocals. All in all, this is a punchy song, that will keep you on the edge of your seat with its forward moving guitar lines. The warehouse thrashing in their music video is pretty killer too.

Hostage drop “Cancer,” in support of world cancer day 2022

Metalcore band Hostage, from Germany, drop “Cancer,” teaming up with Rotarian Metalhead Fellowship to raise funds for world cancer day on February 4th, 2022.

Hostage does a great job incorporating high-movement lines while maintaining a solid rhythm on this track. The guitar riffs are interesting, yet hold the concrete depth that is needed to bring a metal mix together. The amount of aggression in the growl vocals is on point, with lots of energy and a good blend with the clean vocals. On top of it all, the song has that bass and kick drum punch that works so well with grindy riffs in this genre. Stay until the end to hear the ramping tempo transition.

Give a listen to “Cancer,” and be sure to head over to the Rotarian Metalhead Fellowship’s fundraiser page to see what Hostage has been promoting!

Howl Like Wolves take the “Crown” with their new track!

The German Metalcore band, Howl Like Wolves, hit us with their title track and anticipated EP “Crown!”

This past September, we covered another track from the EP: “Into The Waves,” and this one delivers just as well! The song has the depth of a synth-heavy Bring Me The Horizon track and then adds bursts of aggression and hefty beatdown sections on top. The layering in this track is superb, going from a low intensity intro, to the pounding main riff, verse, and adding in bass as the progression continues. Leaving instruments out and bringing them in to create a fuller section is a strong suit for this track, always bringing the dynamics to the next level. The growl vocals are also tearing it up throughout! The “in your face” vibe of the growls, transferring to the background when the clean vocals pick up, makes for a perfect combo.

Take a listen to this title track off their new EP “Crown,” and be sure to scope out the other tracks from the EP as well!

Listen to VOXX! you’ll “Never Look Back”

Hard rock band VOXX, from Tampa Bay, Florida, drop their grungy mix of a track “Never Look Back!”

The track has that raw alternative rock sound of something close to Chevelle, but with it’s own twist, featuring pounding drums and extra heavy rhythms. The breakdown towards the end is a classic hard rock soundscape that throws a great change-up into the song structure. There is lots of great clean vocal processing on this, with the added grit and massive feeling of the lines. If you grew up on hard rock music, and can appreciate a clean but gritty vocal style, you won’t be disappointed!

“Didn’t You Get The Memo?” Damnear Divine gets it!

Pop punk band Damnear Divine, from Las Vegas, Nevada, puts up their track “Didn’t You Get The Memo?”

Damnear Divine has been kicking it since 2009, and has started getting more active now in 2021, re-releasing their EP from 2011 “Freeways & Farewells” this year! This track has a great energy to it and has the classic pop-punk vocal sound we all love. The guitars are smooth but driving with that distorted warmth. The snippets of aggression with growl vocals offer a nice contrast to the prominent lead vocals in the song. The use of gang vocals on this track are really well done and add a lot of depth to the transitions.

Whether you’ve heard the track already or not, it’s a solid production that I think anyone could get stuck in their head! We’re glad Damnear Divine is getting back out there and tearing it up!
