Suburban Samurai – Short But Not Short Enough

Burlington, VT, pop punk act Suburban Samurai released a new EP, Short But Not Short Enough, on June 6th. The EP follows their self-titled full length debut (2016) and a standalone single, “Six Month Winter” (2017). With a variety of sounds, SBNSE seems to take influence from Rise Against, Iron Maiden, Reel Big Fish, and Four Year Strong – those last three in the same song, no less.

Wheel – Please

Finnish rockers Wheel have released their newest single, “Please”, from their EP The Divide. Heavy influences from bands like Tool and Chevelle are present in the song, which was released both as a 6:20 album version and a 3:59 radio version.

Sir Reg – FOOL (Fight of our Lives)

Swedesh Celtic-punk band Sir Reg have released “FOOL – Fight of our Lives”, the first single from their fifth album, The Underdogs. The song brings heavy comparisons to The Mighty Regis’ song “Paddy Don’t Live in Hollywood”, with only a minor variation in the main riff of the song.

For comparison, here is “Paddy Don’t Live in Hollywood”.

The Holophonics – Try Me On

If you like Ska bands, then you’ll enjoy The Holophonics! They are a Ska punk band from Denton, TX. This is “Try Me On” off of their new album called Phantom Arrival. Fun fact: these guys have done 13 albums of various cover songs including pop-punk songs and even the Sailor Moon theme song! Broken Girls From Affluent Backgrounds – Bridges

Although the band name is a mouthful, Broken Girls From Affluent Backgrounds can make music that will tug at your heart, especially with their new single called “Bridges”. These guys are from Phoenix, AZ! If you like what you hear, check out their EP Fiction Will See Us Through.

Lowlander – Pray

Lowlander, the Seattle-based alt rock group have released their debut single, “Pray”. With Milo Eubank producing and Andrew Joslyn arranging the strings (both of Macklemore fame), “Pray” is a solid song that’s radio ready for the masses.
